Athletics Recap 5/23/22 – Tarriers Headed to State
Tarrier athletes had a great week at Districts and many athletes are now headed to State!
Track and Field
Cameron A. ’23 is the District champion in the 100m and took 2nd in the 200m; Tay B. ’23 is the District champion in High Jump; Sky C. ’24 is the District champion in Discus and took 3rd place in Shot Put; Fox L. ’23 took 2nd in the 110m Hurdles; Andrew W. ’25 tied for 2nd in the High Jump; Cedar O. ’22, Samuel V. ’25, Tay B. ’23, and Cameron A. ’23 took 3rd place in the 4×100 relay. Samuel V. ’25 placed 3rd in the Long Jump; and CWA boys placed 3rd overall as a team at Districts.
Golf
The girls team won the District 3 1A Golf Tournament, with Emersyn W. ’22 placing first and Emily C. ’22 placing second. Both Emersyn and Emily advanced to this week’s State Golf Tournament in Spokane. Peyton S. ’24 and Hope F. ’25 also competed in the District tournament.
The boys golf team also played very well, placed third as a team at Districts, with Will T. ’24 finishing 4th to advance to this week’s State tournament. Connor I. ’24, Nolan R. ’24, James Z. ’24, Anderson H. ’22, Reggie X. ’23 also competed at Districts.
Tennis
After winning the Nisqually League Tournament, all four entries advanced to the 1A West Central District 3 Tournament, and the Tarriers are the District Champions!
Sophie B. ’24 is the singles champion, while Zoe N. ’22 placed fourth in the singles category. Teammates and sisters Zoha ’22 and Nawal A. ’24 were the doubles champions, while Emma W. ’23 and Judy P. ’22. were strong district participants.
Representing the boys tennis team, Parth J. ’23 qualified this fall and will be traveling, along with Sophie, Zoha, and Nawal, to the State Tournament this week.
We’re also ecstatic to announce that Second Grade Teacher and Girls Tennis Coach Maggie Mulder was named a Nisqually League Tennis Coach of the Year!
